PRIVACY POLICY
ARX Law and ARX K.K. (collectively, the “ARX Group”) establish this Privacy Policy regarding the handling of personal information and comply with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan (the “APPI”), as well as other applicable laws, regulations and guidelines.
1.
Acquisition of Personal Information
The ARX Group acquires personal information by lawful and appropriate means, after specifying the purposes of use, and only to the extent necessary to achieve those purposes.
2.
Purpose of Use
Except as permitted by applicable laws and regulations, the ARX Group does not use personal information beyond the scope necessary to achieve its purposes of use. The ARX Group uses personal information for the following purposes or for purposes separately notified or publicly announced:
(1)
providing legal services, consulting services and other services of the ARX Group, communicating in connection with such services, and conducting related activities;
(2)
determining whether to accept an engagement, conducting and managing conflict-of-interest checks, verifying identity, preventing money laundering and other misuse, and conducting other legally required checks;
(3)
entering into and managing contracts, invoicing, managing payments, and handling accounting, tax and other administrative matters;
(4)
providing information about, and administering, the ARX Group’s services, seminars, events, publications and other activities;
(5)
distributing newsletters and other information;
(6)
improving services, planning and developing new services, analyzing usage and managing quality;
(7)
providing recruitment information, accepting and screening applications, communicating with applicants and conducting other recruitment activities;
(8)
responding to inquiries, requests for disclosure and other requests under the APPI, complaints and consultations; and
(9)
ensuring information security, investigating and responding to misconduct, and protecting the rights or property of the ARX Group
3.
Appropriate Use of Personal Information
The ARX Group does not use personal information in a manner that may facilitate or induce unlawful or improper conduct.
4.
Special Care-Required Personal Information
When acquiring special care-required personal information, the ARX Group obtains the individual’s prior consent unless otherwise permitted by applicable laws and regulations. The ARX Group handles such information appropriately and only to the extent necessary to achieve the relevant purposes of use.
5.
Management of Personal Data and Security Control Measures
The ARX Group takes necessary and appropriate measures to prevent leakage, loss or damage of personal data and otherwise ensure the secure management of personal data. Principal measures include the following:

establishing basic policies and handling rules, appointing responsible personnel, and maintaining an organizational framework for monitoring the handling of personal data;
・
providing education to, and exercising necessary and appropriate supervision over, lawyers, officers and staff;
・
managing areas, devices and media used to handle personal data, and taking measures to prevent theft, loss and similar incidents;
・
implementing access controls, authentication, anti-malware measures, communications security and other technical measures;
・
appropriately selecting and contractually controlling service providers that handle personal data, and exercising necessary and appropriate supervision over them; and
・
when personal data is handled in a foreign country, understanding the personal information protection system and other relevant circumstances in that country and implementing security control measures in light of those circumstances.
6.
Provision of Personal Data to Third Parties and Outsourcing
The ARX Group does not provide personal data to any third party without the individual’s consent, except as permitted by applicable laws and regulations. The ARX Group may also outsource all or part of the handling of personal data to service providers to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of use, in which case the ARX Group exercises necessary and appropriate supervision over such service providers.
7.
Provision to Third Parties Outside Japan and Other Overseas Handling
To the extent necessary for its business operations, the ARX Group may use cloud services or other services provided by service providers located outside Japan, or provide personal data to third parties located outside Japan. Where such use or provision constitutes a provision of personal data to a third party located outside Japan, the ARX Group takes the measures required under the APPI and other applicable laws and regulations, including, as applicable, obtaining the individual’s consent, providing the individual with required information, and taking necessary measures to ensure the recipient’s continued implementation of measures equivalent to those required under the APPI.

9.
Cookies, Access Logs and Similar Technologies
The ARX Group’s website may use cookies, web beacons, access logs and similar technologies to improve convenience, understand usage, improve the website and services, and provide appropriate information. Through these technologies, the ARX Group may collect device information, browser information, IP addresses, browsing history and other information.
Where the ARX Group uses analytics or other services provided by third parties, those providers may collect information through cookies or similar technologies and use it in accordance with their own privacy policies. Users may be able to disable cookies through browser settings or methods provided by the relevant service. If cookies are disabled, certain website functions may become unavailable.
10.
Requests Concerning Personal Data
Upon receiving a request under the APPI for notification of the purpose of use, disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, erasure, cessation of third-party provision, or disclosure of records of third-party provision concerning the ARX Group’s retained personal data, the ARX Group will verify the identity and authority of the requester and respond in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Changes to this Privacy Policy
The ARX Group may amend this Privacy Policy as necessary. Any amendment will be announced by posting it on this website or by another appropriate method.
